Betsy: great, good and kind

When I think of those women who left an indelible print on my life...Betsy stands among the tallest as a fair-minded, thoughful leader and mentor, and path-breaking philanthropist at Wellesley College. It was a privilege to be in her orbit. Bety's grace and generosity infused everything she did, and she wore her very good fortune without air or pretense. Being with Betsy was just fun - wherever, whenever, however. Twice my family and I were treated to a visit at the Knapp Ranch -- my then small children (now adults) have the same wonderfully warm memories of Betsy making our visit just right at that magical place.

She changed my life, and will be deeply deeply missed by so many.

Betsy was such a magnificent woman! She will be missed for her warmth, intelligence, insight and drive.  Her smile brightened a room. Her words made us sit and listen intently. My sincerest condolences to Bud and the entire family.  I hope the incredible memories she left will provide much comfort at this sad time.

My deepest condolences. What a remarkable woman, career, and life! Her legacy will live on brightly in our alma mater. Sincerely, Marisa Van Saanen (Wellesley '01, and Young Alum Trustee at Wellesley, 2001-2004)

Betsy was a remarkable woman and she served as a generous role model for so many of us. I first met her when I joined C-200 and we realized that were in the same 5900 Wilshire Building. She was kind and innovative. A talented woman loved by many of us who will miss her forever.
