Gene and I send our deepest condolences to the family.

Betsy was a remarkable woman and she served as a generous role model for so many of us. I first met her when I joined C-200 and we realized that were in the same 5900 Wilshire Building. She was kind and innovative. A talented woman loved by many of us who will miss her forever.

    missing Betsy

I can hear her distinctive voice and her laugh, and just cannot believe that she is gone. I can hear her saying something self-deprecating like "well, I don't know much about this but..." and then asking a question that got right to the heart of whatever obscure scientific topic we were discussing.

Betsy Will Be Missed By All

I was saddened to read of Betsy's death in today's Boston Globe - what a loss at a young age (hey, 74 seems young these days).  A delightful woman, full of ideas, purpose, and means, she was indeed someone for everyone.  Betsy and I came into contact many times during my years at the College, an

    An angel in my life

I'm heartbroken about losing Betsy. She was more than a good friend; she was an angel in my life. Betsy folded me into many of her education and philanthropic projects (Wellesley National Development Outreach Council for the last Wellesley campaign, the UCLA Foundation, among others) and gave me opp

    A gem of a volunteer

I benefitted from working with Betsy on committees at UCLA. She was an active participant with wisdom to impart, and used considered restraint in speaking when it was unnecessary! I only learned today, when reading the public comments, that she grew up in the same town as I did, Evanston, Illinoi

    Knapp interns at Wellesley

I had the privilege of managing 2 former Knapp interns, working with several others and the Knapp intern program, as well as attending an intern reunion a few years ago. It was an absolute delight to see Betsy with these recent alums, each remarkable in her own way, witnessing how the program she sp

    Betsy: great, good and kind

When I think of those women who left an indelible print on my life...Betsy stands among the tallest as a fair-minded, thoughful leader and mentor, and path-breaking philanthropist at Wellesley College. It was a privilege to be in her orbit. Bety's grace and generosity infused everything she did, and

    Our Betsy: A Fairy Godmother

Betsy was always spreading good will and using her money for projects that made the world a better place to live and love. She did this with organizations and for individuals. She was a public figure, but always able to focus in intimate conversations. She combined heart and mind in such a gracio

    With admiration

It was a privilege to spend time with Betsy when she visited Wellesley, listening intently as she and Bud engaged the faculty in deep discussion about their research and teaching, seeing her meet and inspire the students she supported with her scholarship, and watching her joy reuniting with Kna
